Inserting AI will amplify the organisation you have

Inserting AI will amplify the organisation you have. Whether that’s for better or worse is a straight line from where you are right now.

High-ownership team members collaborating effectively? Congrats! You get more of that with AI.

Low-ownership team members throwing garbage over the fence? Congrats! You get more of that with AI.

Highly-aligned team members that understand the strategy, market, customer, problem, and ICP, all working on high value things, and having great discussion about what not to spend time on? Congrats! You get more of that with AI.

Poorly-aligned team members who have no idea where growth comes from, or how to connect it to their day-to-day? Congrats! You get more of that with AI.

Most of my focus when talking building productivity in tech product organisations isn’t about the latest model, the right coding harness, or managing indirect prompt injection.

Instead, it’s about:

  1. The organisational sources of truth for knowledge that both humans and agents can rely on when making judgement calls;
  2. The tools and techniques that allow humans and agents to apply that knowledge to the work they’re performing; and
  3. The owners, patterns, and practices for maintaining those sources of truth

If your org is currently at “Let’s start writing these down in a single place we all agree will be the source of truth, agree who will maintain it, and how they will maintain it”, this is a sign you’re on the right path. Even better if you split your Facts from your Processes while doing so.
